Healthy Food for Weight Loss: 7 Easy Ways to Start Your Day

Maintaining a healthy weight starts with the foods you eat. If chosen properly, you will see progress just by being aware of what and how much you are eating. If you start your day with a bowl of sugary cereal, you could be setting up for failure. Begin with healthy food for weight loss.

It’s not easy for some individuals to wake up and eat something. Building this habit could take a few weeks for some people. Though, even if you are not hungry, it can be beneficial to eat as soon as you wake up.

This habit tends to help your metabolism, and you won’t be tempted to have an unhealthy snack two hours after you wake up.

We have compiled a list of foods that will promote this habit, as they are easy to grab on the go and they all help weight loss.

Apples

Apples are a good source of fiber, which we typically don’t get enough off. Fiber is good for digestion and will help keep you full. If you don’t feel hungry, you won’t grab unhealthy snacks that are causing weight gain.

This is a food that you can eat as soon as you wake up, or you can easily pack an apple in your lunch.

I personally like to cut an apple up into many smaller pieces. This tricks your brain into thinking you are eating more than you actually are, which will delay your hunger!

Almonds

Almonds are great for improving cholesterol as well as reducing fat in your body. They are high in protein and fiber and certainly help to promote weight loss.

You can buy a bag of almonds and have something to snack on if you are really in a hurry.

I typically save these for a snack in the afternoon, but if I eat almonds for breakfast, they are a great addition to greek yogurt. You can put almond flakes in your yogurt along with some fruit.

Eggs

Eggs are low calorie and high protein foods that are a great way to start your day. You will feel full for longer and lose weight faster. Several studies suggest that eating eggs for breakfast will promote weight loss much better than bread items.

You will have healthy fats and antioxidants with an egg-based breakfast. This is much healthier than other alternatives.

If you don’t have time to make eggs every morning, it’s nice to prepare a carton for the week. We like to hard boil 12-18 eggs for the week. Doing it this way ensures you will have something you can grab right out of the refrigerator.

Greek Yogurt

Greek Yogurt is high in protein and it contains probiotics that improve digestive health. When eating foods with a higher protein, you tend to be more satiated and eat less throughout the day. This will lead to eating less fat and unhealthy food.

Greek Yogurt also has less sugar than other yogurts. You will be off to a great start with this healthy food for weight loss.

If you are looking for a bit of a sweeter breakfast, I like to use plain greek yogurt with berries on top. Grab some blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries to get some sweetness as well as some healthy fruits for your breakfast.

Natural Peanut Butter

Natural Peanut Butter is essentially ground-up peanuts with some salt. There is no added sugar or unhealthy fats like you find in other types of peanut butter. Comprised of monounsaturated fats (the good kind), protein, and fiber, it’s hard to pass this up!

Be aware that this will not taste as sweet as other brands of peanut butter because there is no sugar. This is part of the reason that it’s a great food to start your day with!

You can either add this food into a breakfast smoothie or put it on a piece of toast. If I am cheating for the morning, I will put natural peanut butter on a piece of wheat toast to start my day! Tasty.

Avocado

Another food with good fat, fiber, and antioxidants. Avocados will help you stay full and promote fat loss. If you add these to your breakfast or diet in general, you will see results. You may even start preferring avocados over other sweet snacks!

These will certainly keep you satiated for a long period of time, so try adding avocados to your day.

If I’m not in a rush, I like to cook eggs over-easy then have some sliced avocado on the side. This is the perfect combination of great-tasting, healthy foods that promote weight loss.

Blueberries

Most people know that blueberries are full of antioxidants, fiber, and other great nutrients. What some might not know is that they also are a great healthy food for weight loss. If you add these to your diet, you will get some sugar that you crave while avoiding other sweets that are worse for you.

As mentioned, the fiber will also keep you satiated so you will not get hungry as quickly.

You can easily snack on these every morning for breakfast or take them in your lunch. I personally like to put blueberries on my greek yogurt every morning.

This article attempted to provide some potentially easy ways to start your day right. All the foods mentioned will promote weight loss and help you stay full throughout the day.

Rather than eating a bagel or sugary cereal, try to get on a routine that involves eating healthier food in the morning. I guarantee you will see a difference in a relatively short amount of time.

If you want to follow what I do daily – Eat a hard-boiled egg and some greek yogurt with blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. You will not be disappointed in your change!

Once you get your diet on track, check out some exercises or other additions to your home gym.
