In reality, you’re probably thinking about a less-than-healthy food right now as you’re reading. You are, aren’t you? Take a moment to consider what you’ve just said. Every new client who comes to my weight-loss program has a “craving crisis.” But I don’t think it’s a concern in the least. It appears to me to be a viable option. Cravings are a little exaggerated. They’re a mishmash, and we don’t have to submit to them. Ice cream, cookies, or 20-ounce prime ribs don’t have to tempt us. Watermelon, pineapple, bananas, and apples, for example, can tempt us instead.
When I first sit down with a client to discuss their eating habits, I gather all of the information I require on what they eat and how they eat. Snacking, picking, consuming unhealthy foods, or just overeating are often the culprits behind their weight problems. Then I’ll inquire about their favorite fruits and vegetables.
I have yet to meet anyone who despises fruit or any vegetable under the sun. Finally, I’ll ask them how much they eat fruits and vegetables, and they’ll always say that they eat them far less often than they eat unhealthy foods.

We get down to business after I’ve gathered my arsenal of facts. I’ll make my clients close their eyes and recline in my recliner. I’ll steer their thoughts to a quiet location, and they’ll be relaxed like they’ve never been before in minutes. After that, I begin to discuss their favorite fruits and vegetables.
I’ll ask them to imagine biting into a juicy, ripe fruit and feeling the juices tickle their taste buds. “From now on, if you have a craving for food, you will think of a juicy, ripe piece of fruit,” I’ll tell their minds. And then there was bingo!!! The next thing you know, these are the types of things they’re craving. What is the reason for this?
Because your subconscious mind appears once you close your eyes and carry yourself to a peaceful, comfortable state, and it is this part of the mind that controls what you want. Adjust your emotions, and your desires will change. It’s that simple.
Let’s take a look at it from a certain angle. Let’s presume your favorite fruit is pineapple. If you were sitting next to me right now and I handed you a juicy chunk of it, you’d devour it. Isn’t it true that you’d like more? Yes, of course. Let’s pretend I reached into my fridge, whipped out a slice of chocolate cake, and said, “pick one.”
Most possibly, you’d choose the pineapple because you’d just had a taste of it and your mind was pleading for more. The truth is that you love your favorite fruits almost as much as you enjoy your favorite junk foods; the only difference is that you think otherwise.
Cravings are, once again, exaggerated. Only because these are the foods you are most exposed to in our media-driven culture, the mere mention of that devilish word still seems to conjure-up images of high calorie, high fat foods. The subconscious becomes used to this and has no idea what else to do. Adjust your mental pictures, and your cravings will change.

Step 1: Locate a convenient, quiet location free of distractions. Begin by taking deep breaths until you feel fully comfortable. Slowly count backwards from ten to one. Imagine your mind wandering deeper and deeper with each count. Try Forest Bathing!
Step 2: Once you’ve done counting, imagine yourself relaxing in your favorite spot by yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a secluded beach or a log in the woods. Consider how you’d feel if you were completely relaxed and quiet.
Step 3: Next, visualize a basket full of your favorite freshly picked fruit sitting beside you. Imagine the color, the texture, and all about the fruit in your head. Imagine biting into the juicy fruit and savoring it like you’ve never done before.
Step 4: Tell yourself ten times that “from now on, whenever I think about eating, I instantly feel a longing for fruit.”
Step 5: Slowly count from 1 to 5, then open your eyes when you hit 5.
